2010 global powder metallurgy auto parts industry is recovering

The global powder metallurgy industry is slowly recovering and will be better in 2010 than in 2009. In 2010, North American light vehicle production will increase to 10 million units, and will return to 12 to 14 million units in 2010. The powder metallurgy industry should pay more attention to the cooperation with technicians in the transplant automobile manufacturing plant and encourage the transplant vehicles to adopt more powder metallurgy parts.

China's powder metallurgy industry has no chance to give the powder metallurgy industry its unique advantages due to the long-term lack of large and high value-added parts. So in the mid-1990s, powder metallurgy parts used in the automotive and motorcycle industries almost doubled in quality over the past 10 years. The powder metallurgy parts for the agricultural machinery industry with lower added value are almost halved. It can be seen that high value-added powder metallurgy parts are gradually shifting to the automotive field. According to the China General Machinery Parts Association Powder Metallurgy Branch, the output of China's powder metallurgy parts and products increased by 17.5% in 2006, reaching approximately 88,000 tons. The statistical product categories include iron-copper-based powder metallurgy parts, oil-impregnated bearings, and friction materials. Among them, the volume of powder metallurgy parts in the automotive market was about 32,000 tons, accounting for 37%, an increase of 28%; the power tool market grew by 29%. The specific application areas are allocated as shown in Table 1.

In the future, the market potential of China's automotive powder metallurgy parts products will increase. According to the data, the amount of powder metallurgy products in the automobile manufacturing industry in developed countries accounts for the vast majority of the total output of powder metallurgy products, such as 90% in the United States and 80% in Europe, while China is still less than 40%. The average powder metallurgy product usage per car in Europe is 14kg, Japan is 16kg, the United States has reached 19.5kg or more, and it is expected to reach 22kg in the next few years. However, the average amount of powder metallurgy products per car in China is only about 5kg. If the annual output of 5 million vehicles is calculated, the annual steel powder for auto parts in China is about 25,000 tons. If the amount of powder metallurgy products in each automobile in China reaches the European level, plus the replacement of the powder metallurgy parts of the car, then Only this steel powder needs nearly 100,000 tons, which is 1.25 times of the current total demand for powder metallurgy.
